Atao Liu

Dr. Atao Liu is a distinguished performer and educator based in New York, known for her captivating orchestral performances. She frequently appears as a guest musician with the American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony Orchestra, Bach Festival Orchestra of Bethlehem, New Jersey Festival Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and Syracuse Symphoria. Additionally, she is a regular performer with Parlando Chamber Orchestra and Pegasus Orchestra and serves as an artist-in-residence with the Caroga Lake Music Festival. Internationally, Dr. Liu's career includes a notable 2017 China-U.S. tour with the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Orchestra of China, with performances across both nations. Her collaborations with the Beijing Symphony further expand her global artistic reach. Beyond performing, Dr. Liu is a dedicated educator and a faculty member at the Bloomingdale School of Music. She has successfully prepared numerous students for admission to The Juilliard School Pre-College. Additionally, she is a skilled reed maker, handcrafting highly regarded bassoon reeds for both professionals and students. Dr. Liu holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music, a Master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and a Doctoral degree from Stony Brook University.
