Maggy Simon

Maggy Simon is a passionate violinist, educator, songwriter, and collaborator based in Brooklyn, New York. Her notable performances include appearances with NPR’s Tiny Desk, Broadway Sings, Derrick Hodge’s The Color of Noize Orchestra, the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, Palaver Strings, the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, and Playbill’s Songwriter Series. She has had the honor of playing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kimmel Center, the White House, and the historic Wanamaker Building.  

Maggy is an active member of the Dream String Quartet, Breaks Inc., and folk/indie group Maggy & Jean. In addition to her performance career, she serves as a Violin Teaching Artist through the Harmony Program in New York City and teaches private Violin and Viola lessons at Grace Church School in Manhattan. Previously, she taught High School Orchestra in the Philadelphia School District at CAPA.

A passionate advocate for music education, Maggy comes from a family of musicians and educators, inspiring her lifelong dedication to teaching. She earned her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University under the guidance of William van der Sloot and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Violin Performance from Temple University, where she studied with Barbara Sonies.
